Rhonda J. Soikowski is an actor, director, educator, and facilitator of new work specializing in collaborative process, and recently wrapped six years dedicated time to her community on the Edmonds Arts Commission. She holds an MFA in Contemporary Performance from Naropa University in Boulder, CO, and a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA.
A faculty member in the theater department at Cornish College of the Arts, Rhonda regularly teaches both Vocal and Physical Technique and often directs student productions. In her thirteen years on faculty at Cornish she has taught subjects including Embodied Voice & Speech, Audition Technique, Mask & Clown, Improvisation & Devising, and Ensemble Creation. In workshops and at other institutions, Rhonda has lead many courses on other subjects including Acting, Acting for Camera, and Literature of Theater.
Soikowski has supported her specialty through professional workshop training in Somatic Voicework℠ The LoVetri Method, Extended Vocal Technique with Meredith Monk, Roy Hart vocal training with Carol Mendelsohn, Saule Ryan, and Ethie Friend, and in Clowning with John Turner of Mump & Smoot at the Manitoulin Conservatory for Creation and Performance.
Soikowski has advanced an awareness of the artist's need for prepared exit strategies with her company's research into heightened emotional energy as a tool for performance. The s r | p Emotional Exit Strategy and 7Limbs Practice are both outcomes of that research.
